MYSTIC TOURS to puno

Discover the place where the Inca culture was born through a short two day crossing of the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca . This pleasant crossing, onboard a modern catamaran that can hold to 40 people, will take you to the Island of the Sun.

The waters of Lake Titicaca are considered sacred by its natives, who still worship Wila Apacheta, the old Aymara God and creator of the lake where Manco Cápac y Mama Ocllo, the legendary founders of the Inca Empire, emerged into the world, obeying a calling of their God Wiracocha. The name Titicaca stands for "stone puma" and, when photographed from satellites, clearly resembles this animal ready to attack.

You'll discover the wonderful Copacabana too, where the traditions and religion of the Andes alternate to give an unforgettable memory of the high plateaus of the Andes.

The Door of Sun is the most important and interesting feature for those interested in the history of art. Some elements of its iconography are propagated throughout Perú and in parts of Bolivia; the reliefs that decorate its entry undoubtably symbolize a cosmic phenomenon, plastically expressed. There have been innumerable interpretations of the Door of Sun; most of them starting with the hypothesis of it being a calendar.
